This article goes a bit more in-depth, showing how both the body weight, and aging process were affected. The participants of the study, ranging from the ages of 60 to 81, showed a marked increase in muscle mass and a marked decrease in the aging process.
The doctor in charge, Michael Thorner, MB, BS, DSc, and Ralf Nass, MD, were pleased by the results that he saw from MK -677. They said that they saw an increase in blood pressure, although very slight, and a decrease in insulin sensitivity. MK 677 was used in a study to find out the effect of growth hormone on Diet-Induced Catabolic patients. Their caloric intake was reduced to 18 kcal/kg.day for a two week period. During that time. All 8 people lost substantial weight and muscle mass. Another human trial, this time to test whether the application of MK 677 or synthetic Growth hormone, would have an effect on GH release and IGF-I concentrations. 65 humans between the ages of 60 and 81 were chosen for this two-year, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, modified-crossover clinical trial.
This study was to determine the effect the MK 677 had on aging. The study consisted of two groups of people, both of whom were taking a dosage of a drug every day. One group was taking a placebo, the other was talking MK 677. The results showed that those who were taking the MK 677 did so without any significant side effects. The drug did, however, increase bone density and keep muscle strength from deteriorating. The placebo group was shown to have a marked muscle deterioration over the 24 month period, while the MK 677 group did not.
